Wanna try me, gub? [07 Nov 2006|05:38am]
[ mood | sleepy ]

So now that we are all in the full swing of Fall, I think it's a good time to talk about my upcoming plans for the season! Since it is November, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I am totally in the mindframe of TUUURKEEY.

Well not really, but turkey definitely is a delicious prospect. What I am mostly excited about is finally going home! Especially since I can see my kitties! I'm sure they were devastated by my moving away and have most likely been miserable ever since :-( But this year's Thanksgiving weekend, their prayers will be answered!

Photographic proof!Collapse )

I'll be going to my cousins' house in Buffalo as usual for the actual holiday. One thing that my friends and I have already planned to do on the break is see "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny" on its rock-inducing opening night.

I went to Catty's place over my Fall Break in October and we both had a great time! We went to the Philadelphia Zoo on Saturday and then spent the rest of the weekend with her friends in the city. It was a really fun time, especially due to the presence of the pug known as Otto! You can check out a ton of great zoo pictures here on Cat's journal.

I'm still having a really great time here at school, too. I really enjoy the company of all the new friends I've made and I get along extraordinarily well with my roommate. We totally formed a band together, acutally. [shameless plug]You can check us out at http://www.purevolume.com/13dinosaurs [/shameless plug].

Oh and by the way, I saw "Borat" this week. Pretty amazing...

...NOT! (No really though, it was a hilarious movie)!

WHOA! LIVEJOURNAL UPDATE!

I haven't blogged since the Summer, but Summer is over now and that means ///COLLEGE\\\. I am now a bonafide art student at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

My classes are mostly 6 hours long each, one is 4 hours, and the shortest is 2 hours 45 mins. My classes are as follows:
Sculptural Forms
Elements of Visual Thinking
Critical Inquiry
Drawing 1
Electronic Media & Culture.

Next semester I'll be taking:
Graphic Design 1 (hopefully)
Phenomena of Color
Art Matters
Drawing 2
Painting 1

I have been making a bunch of drawings and am actually surprising myself with the quality of them. I guess all I need to do is spend more than an hour and a half on a drawing! (and not use shitty mechanical pencils). I've also got a lot of new friends and they are all pretty awesome.

This weekend is Fall Break and I will be going to Catty's house!! We are going to hit up the Philadelphia Zoo and also South Street, and any other location that suits our fancy. It's definitely going to be a great weekend!

So that is my current life in the TINIEST NUTSHELL EVER. Hopefully I will start making more updates soon!

i get what i need, i need your love [15 Aug 2006|02:32am]
[ mood | sleepy ]

So its late and Catty just made a really awesome photo post on her Livejournal and it inspired me to write just a quick update!

I am home from New York City and the beach and I must say the whole trip was great! Definitely relaxing and a lot of fun. I got to see Catty in NYC too and that was AWESOME! You can see tons of great photos from her visit over at her blog:

http://skankykiwi.livejournal.com

Check it out!

On another note, ever since Andrew W.K.'s new album "Close Calls With Brick Walls" came out at the beginning of July, I have been OBSESSED with his music. Even moreso than I was before. I now have TWO copies of his rare first EP titled "AWKGOJ" aka 'Girls Own Juice.' It's pretty awesome stuff and I am more into it than ever before. Sadly though, I won't get to see him live this year. He is only playing 1 show in the USA this year and it already happened in Orlando, Florida. Fuck Orlando! Northeast USA all the way! But yeah, Andrew W.K., woo!!

On yet another note, I am going to college in like 10 days to the Maryland Institute College of Art. I am pretty excited but sometimes I just stop and think, "Art school?...What the hell was I thinking?!" But really, if I wasn't doing this, I have no idea what else I would be doing, so I think it makes sense.

Earright, I gotta get to bed. Night!

You were great in "The Lost World!" [09 Aug 2006|12:18am]
[ mood | tired ]

I'm in New York City this week. Yesterday evening, after a long day of seeing a movie ("Brothers of the Head") and going to record stores (Bleecker Bob's, Mondo Kim's) and walking around the Village, my family and I decided to go to the Chelsea diner down on 23rd and 9th.

On that block of 23rd, between 8th and 9th is a cinema that often has Hollywood movie premieres. As we drove down the street, we saw a red carpet and a massive amount of photographers. It was for the movie "Trust The Man," starring none other than the man himself:

DAVID DUCHOVNY

...and others, too. Billy Crudup, Julianne Moore, Eva Mendes, Maggie Gyllenhaal (complete with bonus celeb Peter Sarsgaard).

Ees my birthday! [04 Aug 2006|10:07pm]
[ mood | tired ]

YO! I am just kinda sitting here at my computer so I figured I would update my LiveJournal. Catty also suggested that I start blogging more, which I would really love to do. I always just seem to never get around to it!

So today was my birthday! The big 1-8! I can't wait to get arrested for statch and then get the death penalty for it. Gonna be so awesome.

I've been at the beach in Jersey this whole week and the weather has been really nice. Although, these crazy sand flys have been bothering the entire beach for a few days now. They are vicious! Today however, they weren't so bad. We got some nice waves to ride.

I'm going to NYC on Sunday and I am totally excited about that, and then Catty comes in on Thursday and I am even MORE excited about that! :-D

So yeah, I just figured it would be cool to do a quick update. Aw yeah!

PS: The new Andrew W.K. album "Close Calls With Brick Walls" is fucking amazing. It's only available in Japan or Korea, though. It's easy to find on Ebay, too. I HIGHLY recommed it.

Clink Clink Clank Clank [05 Jun 2006|02:08am]
[ mood | happy ]

Aw yeah! I haven't posted in a while and now it is the summer and wow where did the time go? I really do want to keep up a journal so I think I am going to make an effort to do that this time.

So since I haven't posted here in a while, here is what I have been up to:

-- Last April I attended the Pittsburgh Comicon as a guest and was selling 2 DVDs, one a complete collection of the 3 "Brock" titles that my friend Sam and I have made and also a compilation of the rest of the Flipside works. We had a super fun time at the 'con (Catty came! :D) and we managed to sell SEVEN DVDs!! That may seem like not a lot, but seriously, that's pretty decent for some kids with absolutely no notoriety.

-- This past May Catty came for almost 2 weeks and it was amazing! We went to Youth Invasion at the Warhol museum, the event that I worked on for several months and it was pretty fun. We spent the whole time she was visiting together and it really was great. Her mom came up towards the end of the week, and on the Friday night of that week, we had our Prom! That was a bunch of fun too, especially dancing to Third Eye Blind's "Deep Inside of You." Best song of the night, no doubt. We also got delicious food from a Greek Food Festival and that was super yummy. Also, we went to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and that too was a really fun time. The whole trip was AWESOME!! You can check out some pics of it at her journal at skankykiwi

-- I went up to Philadelphia recently for the UPA Pennsylvania State Ultimate Championship tournament. My team, one of the 8 teams representing the 20 teams of Pittsburgh, were seeded 13/16 (not too good). However, we came out with a really sweet spot! Tied for 7th place, we beat our seed by a whole 6 spots. That's fuckin sweet. The weekend was also the last time I played Ultimate with my beloved team of the past for years, AFRO. :(

-- I graduated from high school last weekend! Yeah, that whole thang is over for me, and it feels pretty cool. I'm going to the Maryland Institute College of Art next year, so that will also be pretty cool. My senior year of high school was the best and I had a ton of fun and a minimal amount of work to do (dropping math and science = best idea ever). This summer is looking to be a lot of fun too.

Sooo that about wraps up what I have been up to in a VERY small nutshell. Does it sound like I am having a whole lot of fun? It came off that way when I was writing this. Whatev though, I definitely am having a lot of fun.

I'm going to the Adirondacks again at the end of the month and then after that I am going to Catty's house in July for 2 weekends! EEEE! I am so excited!

Lastly, some quick comments:
- Richard Hell & The Voidoids = Fucking sweet, I've just gotten into them
- Andrew W.K. "Close Calls With Brick Walls", out in Japan on July 5. I need it NOW!
- Aw yeah.

Brittle Little Bones [12 Apr 2006|03:10am]
[ mood | happy ]

Hey ho, hey yo! I am back again.

Haven't blogged in about a month, since that Fiery Furnaces show! Since then I have seen Harry and the Potters and they were pretty awesome as well. It was total geek city up in there.

I've been busy working on 2 Flipside Film Company DVDS, which we will sell at the Pittsburgh Comicon. http://www.pittsburghcomicon.com for more info about that. My friend Sam and I purchased a booth and so we are gonna try to sell our masterpieces!! The one DVD is just all of our Flipside shorts and stuff, a lot of the general stuff. The second DVD is solely for the "Brock" movies. I have been working on the cover art for it for a while and I finally finished and I am really pleased with the results! I will post them online soon I think and link them in a later entry. Catty is coming that weekend as well! It is gonna be amazing!

Also, I have been getting excited for new music in 2006. I recently got the new Islands album "Return to the Sea," and I really enjoy it. I have been listening to some new Andrew W.K. tracks and I can say in all honesty, those fucking blow me away. His new album(s?) are going to be massive and full of just pure awesomeness. I don't think any speakers can contain the awesomeness of his music. Oh man that is going to be so incredible! I hear the new Eagles of Death Metal album is good too, so I will check that out.

My Ultimate Frisbee team has started the season up again, and its going well. We're undefeated!! Well, we've only played 1 game so far, but we crushed it! So that is a lot of fun too.

Catty in just about a weeek!!!

Earright well I will probably post soon with more DVD info.

In My Little Thatched Hut [04 Mar 2006|12:39am]
[ mood | calm ]

Eleanor Friedberger of the Fiery Furnaces

On Wednesday (Mar 1) I went to the Fiery Furnaces concert at Mr. Small's Theater. It was incredible, as expected from such a band. I had seen them before in September of 2004, and they were great then too. However, this time, they were totally different! If you've ever heard them, you know their music is REALLY keyboard-heavy. At this show, though, they had no keyboard at all! They completely re-worked a lot of their songs and made them much louder and rock-ier. It was like they were doing amazing covers of their own songs, and it was wonderful! It was a really awesome way to hear these songs that I love. Of course I would have also highly enjoyed seeing Matt perform on the keyboard (as he did at the first show I saw them play), I dug this just as much. Eleanor played a lot of guitar this time, too (which she didn't last time).

Another super cool thing is that their new album, "Bitter Tea," comes out on April 18. Yet, they were selling it at the show!!! I got a copy and it is great! Far superior to their disappointing "Rehearsing My Choir." I also got a pretty cool shirt!

The Fiery Furnaces!Collapse )

If you haven't heard them, definitely check them out at http://www.thefieryfurnaces.com

Grin! [26 Feb 2006|12:31am]
[ mood | happy ]

Delightful!

So today my friends and I played Monopoly for 4 hours...and we didn't even finish the damn game! Luckily though, it was the Star Wars: Saga Edition, so it was still completely awesome. I ended up forfeiting becuase with the majority of spaces taken up by hotels, huge amounts of money would have just been traded back and forth forever.

After that we played several games of the highly entertaining (and wonderfully argument-free) Simpsons Clue. We played 5 games, and I won at least 3. It was a sweet time. The murder almost always happened in the Springfield Retirement Castle, and often with the Poison Donut.

Right now I am listening to Sufjan Stevens' "Illinois" but I think I am gonna switch to Andrew Bird.

That just about wraps up my evening.

Zing zing zing [23 Feb 2006|06:09pm]
[ mood | chipper ]

I want to start updating again!

The last time I did was months ago and I did that "take a picture of such and such description," which I never completed. However, soon, I will be completing that!

This past weekend I went to Catty's house and had a total blast. We watched a ton of movies. The list included:
- Pretty In Pink
- Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
- Say Anything
- Annie Hall
- Blast From the Past
- The Baxter

In addition to that, we played several rounds of WWF: Smackdown on the playstation. Us + Create-A-Player = TOTAL HILARITY!

Highlights from the matchCollapse )

It was an amazing weekend in so many ways and I enjoyed every minute of it!

On another note, upcoming for me is the Pittsburgh Comicon. I will be attending as a guest, running a booth for my Flipside Film Company. Check out http://www.pittsburghcomicon.com for details, I am on the guest list too if you want to check that out. For some reason, they are putting me not only on the list of Horror guests, alongside the likes of the infamous Machete Zombie, but also on the list of Movie and Television guests, alongside the likes of the infamous Ray Park. That will be interesting. I will be selling the brand spanking new DVD: "The Flipside Film Company: The Reel DVD."

I have been gaining popularity on Google Video for my "Fuck You, A String" music video. Check it out if you want to, Fuck You, A String. Also, you should check out the vast array of Flipside movies available on Google Video.

Okie well since I am now going to try to update this regularly, I will see you soon. Catch ya on the flipside!

Hey! Ho! Let's go....read books! [25 Jul 2005|06:47pm]
[ mood | silly ]

So I made a couple of awesome impulse buys last night that I am very excited about! I really wanted to read Dee Dee Ramone's autobiography Lobotomy: Surviving the Ramones. But alas, my local library did not have it! So I figure, screw it, it's cheap, I'll just buy it!

While browsing Amazon.com, I came across another book that Dee Dee wrote, a novel! It's called Chelsea Horror Hotel and its about him living in the Chelsea Hotel and all the strange shit that goes on there, which I think is awesome, considering how close I stay to that hotel whenever I am in New York.

I am very happy about the purchases and cannot wait to get 'em!
